Hi everyone! My name is Annabel, and I’m the Wooloowin Wobbegongs coach.
Swimming has been an integral part of my life for the past fourteen years; first as a competitor, and now as a coach. I have represented both Kedron State School Swimming Club and Padua Swimming Club in many carnivals, both in suburban 25m pools, and at Chandler, including in state relay teams. For the past 18 months, I have worked as a Learn to Swim Coach, and am fully licensed and certified in this position. I love the work – being able to see children grow both as swimmers and people is one of the most rewarding things I have ever experienced.
I’ll be working Friday nights for the Wobbegongs, providing some coaching (specific to racing) before the commencement of club nights, where I will then be the referee. I aim to encourage all children to participate in friendly competition, while also teaching them the rules surrounding racing starts, turns and finishes.
I strongly believe that swimming is not an individual sport; rather, a team one. Hence, I aim to not only improve swimming and racing techniques, but also to deliver lessons with a sense of fun and comradery. Club nights and carnivals make up some of the fondest memories of my childhood and swimming career, and to create that same feeling of excitement and team building amongst others is an extremely exciting prospect.
I am very eager to start work as part of the Wooloowin Wobbegongs community. I look forward to seeing you all around the pool!
